Mirror painting and clay workshops
For the past few weeks I have been organising as a volunteer for The Welcomimg association in Edinburgh some creative workshops for Syrian children and their families.
Whilst doing the art and craft activities the children seemed very interested and curious to express their creativity using paints and brushes on mirrors as well as modelling the clay using open ended materials such as coloured buttons, sequins, feather and mosaics. Moreover the children showed a strong interest in learning about different colours and textures.
These art and craft activities supported creativity, self-identity, social interaction and communication development.
The children made beautiful pieces of art and it’s so rewarding to work alongside children who have different cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
